Born and bred on the
west side of Cleveland, Jon attended St. Ignatius High School and
Miami University. Jon has loved tennis since he picked up a racquet
at the age of 11; he remembers well the hours spent banging a ball
off the walls of St. Raphael’s grade school when he couldn’t badger
family members into playing with him.
He began teaching the
game in 1992 and obtained his USPTA certification in 1998. Over the
years, Jon has coached numerous high school teams in Cleveland and
Japan. Currently, he teaches at River Oaks, plays for the club’s 4.5
men’s and 9.0 mixed doubles teams, and teaches at Westwood Country
Club during the summers. He also coaches at St. Ignatius High
School, where he is a mathematics teacher.
Occasionally, when not in the classroom or on the court, Jon finds
time to read books, play chess, travel, and study foreign languages.
Mostly, though, you’ll find him playing with his two favorite
people, wife Francisca and baby Ian.
